Nearshoring, an opportunity for the aerospace industry

Mexico will have a "tsunami" of nearshoring and reshoring that the aerospace industry must take advantage of, according to Carlos Robles, president-elect of the Mexican Federation of the Aerospace Industry (Femia).

"It is a great opportunity for those who are already there, to develop suppliers in the country and for those who want to enter the sector, really join this chain that is of high integrated value, of specific technical knowledge, that promotes the development of technology , talent, business growth and diversification?, he mentioned.

During his participation in the "Be an Aerospace Provider" Seminar, organized by the Femia, at CETYS University, Mexicali campus, he specified that despite the fact that it is difficult to enter this industry, once you enter it is very difficult to leave due to the quality of work, as well as ingenuity and talent.

Rodolfo Andrade, Undersecretary of Economy of Baja California, for his part, commented that as a country, it should begin to analyze the transition from an efficient cost center to one of value, which is provided by the production chain.

He explained that ?companies in the sector can count on the support of the government through its Capacities Portfolios program, where the work carried out by companies located in the state is exposed.

?It is not only in Baja California, but we are talking with California to have a regional impact. The industry is no longer just from Mexicali,? he said.

Ernesto Vidaurri, Global Supplier Development Mexico manager of Collins Aerospace, commented that according to a survey carried out by McKenzie within the aerospace sector, one option to develop the growth of companies is the search for alternative suppliers.

"Having alternative suppliers that with the same capacity can supply the same component with the same characteristics, that can deliver on time so that there are no delays and the issue of nearshoring, where Mexico can have growth, is something that we are seeing and that about Everything in the northern part (of the country) would be fertile land due to the investment issue,? he stated.
